My life is like McDonalds....I'm Lovin It
hmmm- my birthday is next week so I just went dress shopping but I actually found the cutest black dress at JC penny's for 19 bucks- and Torrid is usually where I get ALL my dresses. I guess it depends on what size you are (/will be for spring break) and what kind of a dress you want- J Crew has dresses up to the 16 or 18 size which will be slightly more expensive, but are often very cute. Also, David's bridal will have some on the dressier side, and they will have all sizes. The clearance ones are also often reasonable- but the longer you wait (for them), the closer it gets to prom when their prices are yuck. If you tell me what you're looking for exactly I might be able to think of some other possibilities. Avenue's dresses didn't look half bad last time I was searching their website- I think their spring ones just came in
As someone told me lately, everyone deserves the chance to fly!
As a hairdresser it is hard trying to keep up with all the girls dressing sooo cute in the thin clothes when I was working at a salon. So one day two summers ago b/f surgery I wanted the flowy tube-top dresses that everyone else was waring & I could never find them in my size go figure cute clothes in my size forget it & as I was shopping I saw a killer medium to long skirt that I had to try on so I decided to try it on as a dress & the rest is history I bought skirts in all colors, patterns, long, short it just did not matter. I wore them as dresses w/ crop jean jackets or tie wraps, over my bathing suite, w/ a pair of jeans & heals, the possibility's is endless when it comes to skirts, just go out of the box. Good luck shopping & have fun on spring break!!!!!!!!!!

As a former Hot Topic manager (Torrid's parent company) I might suggest driving a bit out of your area and go to the next closest mall with a Torrid. Several retailers will "tailor" the merchandise to a mall or areas perceived clientele.
In short, you might have gotten a ho-hum dress selection at your local store4, but a store 45 minutes away might have just what you are looking for.
Also, just to throw another suggestion out there, sometimes (infrequently, but still) I can find a gem of a dress that isn't too "old" looking in Nordstrom's womens department. The dept is called "Encore" and will most likely be upstairs. Happy hunting!
