COCA~COLA!! lol

I had my last coca cola (coke) on august 1st 2008. I made the decision to give it up when i started the WLS process and started seeing a nutritionist...let me tell you it has been very hard at times! I once drank that stuff like water...in fact i rarely had water if there was a coke around! NOW the reason for this post is...i really really really, did i mention REALLY, want to have a BIG giant glass of coke before I have surgery!!! Am I totally crazy for even thinking this is an option?!?! Would it be terribly wrong of me to end the almost 7 month streak of "no coke" ?!??

I dont even know if it will taste the same....but i know I cant stop thinking about coke! lol SO SAD!!!

i was the same way with mt dew....about two years ago i found out my brother was a diabetic so we both stopped drinking it and went to diet....was on that until about 2 days before surgery....surprisingly  dont miss it...I do miss SWEET TEA!

I actually went againts my surgeons wishes, and had a "final" meal.  I had hot wings and cheese fries with a huge glass of sweet tea!  It was fantastic, and I said goodbye to that food forever...:)  I am not saying you should, but I am not saying anyone is going to kill you if you do.  It is and will always be your decision.  Period.  Good luck, and dont be to hard on yourself just yet...trust me, those days will come.  and boy are they hell....but...dont over do anything either. Sitting around drinking out of the tap...glass after glass after glass...probably isnt healthy....but one shouldnt hurt.  you know your limits.

Bigger question, will you be angry with yourself if you drink the coke?  I remember when I quit smoking...6-3-08, I was so happy, but later on me and my boyfriend got into a huge fight and all I wanted was one puff...SO i took one puff, and almost puked...I instantly regretted putting it to my lips.  have ever since.  luckily it was my one and only slip up never to happen again.

I was the SAME was with any diet pop except mt. dew.  I would have about 3-4 cans a day plus other caffinated beverages.

I quit about 2 weeks before surgery.  Honestly though, I haven't missed it one bit...even considering we still have some pop around the house for my husband.  I think I realize now that it wasn't so much the pop but a convenience factor...it was easy just to grab a can out of the fridge.  But now that I'm consciencely thinking about what I'm putting into my body, it's just not worth it.  Plus all the things it could do to my stomach right now.

I guess  if you really want one that bad before surgery...go ahead.  But is it worth starting from square one again?  Is a coke really worth it?   I asked myself this question a lot with a lot of other foods before surgery and the answer was usually no.   It's not like you will burst into flames if you do have your Coke but it might be easier to know that you are completely done with it if you don''t start up again.

Good luck!

I was addicted to Coke too.  I had my last one a day before surgery.  I still love coke and miss it daily.  But its my trigger food and I don't think I can ever have another sip without wanting a gallon of it.  I'm glad i had my last Coke before surgery.  I had no regrets either.  Each person is different adn you really have to decide what you want to do.  I don't think any of us can tell you yes have a coke or no don't do it.
JMO though.

I know that it's hard but like everyone else said it's your decision. I don't think it would be harmful before your surgery.. but once you get your surgery you would really regret drinking. You could get sick.. or worse.. gain weight back!

Girl!  I loved it too but gave it up.  But seriously it won't hurt if you drink some before surgery, but just remember you stopped drinking it for a reason.  Also remember that you won't be able to drink it after surgery.  Every now and then if the boyfriend is drinking a coke i'll take a sip (a sip thats it!) and i'll be fixed.  you just have to remember that you are changing your lifestyle for a reason, because crap like coke isn't good for you!  but that doesn't mean you have to deprive yourself for the rest of your life.
