popcorn...Why not again?
I eat popcorn maybe once a month when I go to the movies and have had no issues with it. The only reason I can think of is that it goes right through you. Everyone is different but when I eat it I don't seem to get full so you just have to be concious of how much of it you eat. I started eating it about 3 months out.
I love love popcorn since my surgery .i liked it before but now. I`m carving for popcorn on weekends. i don´t know why they say we sholdn´t have it. maybe is not good for somepeople`s pouch. dunno.
but be careful `cuz this is the kindda food that we can eat without restriction. soo be careful.
take care girlie.

Hi Cynthia,
Eating popcorn before you are all healed from surgery (so something like within the first 6 months post-op) can cause problems because popcorn has the husks that are sharp and can agravate newly-healed / healing pouches/stomachs. So for that reason I was told to avoid it (and other rouphage - like salad and nuts) for 6 months. Better safe than sorry when it comes to the safety of my pouch.
After the healing, I would just be careful not to go popcorn crazy because it really doesn't have a whole lot of nutritional value and because when you chew it it goes right through you, so you can eat quite a bit without feeling full (which is working against what WLS's purpose is).
I eat popcorn occasionally - just Thursday I went to see Bride Wars with a pal and we had popcorn, but I just have to watch it.
Hope this helps to clarify a bit.
