I'll hopefully be having surgery during this school semester but all my classes are online so I don't have to go to school. I'm just worried about how long I will have to take off work, I just started a new job a month ago and don't have any sick leave until march 1st.

I didn't have it during the school semester, I had it during summer break but I went back to work after a week and a half, which is a desk job so its pretty similar to school.  You just have to remember that you won't be able to pick up things that weigh a lot, like my surgeon told me no more than 5 lbs for the first few weeks, so you might want to think about how much your school books weigh.  Plus remember you will get tired easily for a bit after the surgery so you might want to think about that if you have long school days.  You're just going to have to see what you can handle.  Good Luck!!!!!

I had surgery during winter break and had 2 weeks off. The only problem I have is fatigue.

I had my surgery on the 5th of January and my semester started up on the 12th. For the first week, I couldn't drive myself, so I had my grandma come stay with me and be my chauffer. I was feeling fine, but I still had the drain in, which was definitely a nuisance. It worked out okay, but it would have been nice to have some extra time off.

I had my surgery during christmas break. I had it exactly 5 days after school was out. I would sugest waiting til your semester is up. Depending on the size of your campus and how far you have to walk makes a difference. I came back to school aboout 3 weeks after surgery and w/ my books, walking distinces, and going up and down stairs I was in a bit of pain for the first week in a half. so i say if you could waite til a break do it then. hope this helps.

This is exactly what I was hoping to find! So I guess you really can do school right after, it is just a matter of how comfortable you are doing it.

I guess I am lucky in that all my classes are in the engineering building so limited walking required. And the tablet PC gets rid of all my books so it seems like I am good to go! :)
