My insurance doesn't want to cover my NUTS

Blue Cross is giving me an issue about not covering Nutritional Visits.

They covered my initial visit so i thought, then i got a bill for 60.00 from my NUTS office.

I don't know what to do, i have to go and see them but i can't afford the out of pocket expense, i'm trying to fight this with Blue Cross, just wanted to vent.

Has anyone else had trouble with there insurance company not covering Nutritionists Visits?

Habit is habit and not to be flung out of the window by any man, but coaxed downstairs a step at a time.

It definitely depends on the type of insurance you have. My insurance company reimbursed me after I came out of pocket for it and it was kinda costly. They paid for the 30,000 surgery but not the $500 nutrionist visits. There is another message forum called Insurance. Try that site as well for advice.

Sounds like my crappy insurace!  They will only pay $10,000 of my surgery which leaves us with about $19,000 out of pocket (just like another student loan, yey) and they said they would not cover any complications (nice) or follow up appointments with the dr. or nutritionists which are like $200 per visit.  It's like they don't want you to get sick so you have to use their insurance but they aren't making it very easy on us to make sure we get the follow ups we need so we don't get sick.  Obviously whoever is in charge of both the companies has their head up their.....

I feel your pain!

Mine didnt cover nutritional visits either.  Had to pay it out of pocket.

Hey I think its pretty much across the board...most insurers don't cover nutritionists.

I have tricare and they don't

I can't wait for that bill.

Don't let it hamper you...in the long run the WLS is worth it at least thats what I've been telling myseld

I have blue cross as well and they said they will not cover any of the nutritional visits unless I am classified with diabeties...otherwise the bill is mine to handle.

I have BC but it is out of NY and it does not cover either.  60 bucks a visit is not so bad...  my nut visit costs were 120.
