My WOW moment that I want to share with EVERYONE!!! Yay lol
So I started classes today and I don't know about anyone else but I know that I have always had some difficulty fitting in the desks. The desks are the kind that you remember from highschool the seat anthd the writing area are connected... well I always have been crazily uncomfortable in these desks. My stomach pushed on them and it was painful and I hated class because I would sit there for an hour and a half with my butt hangin off the seat and my stomach bein squashed and it sucked ok.... I hated walking into a room and seeing those desks instead of the computer labs and such that had tables and chairs. OK so now that you have the background info drumroll for the wow moment... I haven't been in one of these desks since before my surgery and I sat down today and my butt is entirely in the seat! OMG I know yay! lol and not only am I not spilling out of the desk all over the place but I am comfortable and I can see the entire desk and NOTHING is jabbing into me. I fit the desk and I am so happy that I could cry... I just needed to share.
My college has two types of chairs (connected). On one kind the table flips up so i was able to flip the top, sit down, and shove the top down . On the other chairs, the top did not come up so I wouldn't sit in them. I would always have to search the floor to find a spare chair and sit next to the desk. It was awkward and embarrassing, but it worked for me (and I hated being uncomfortable).
I lost most of my weight over the summer. Normally every time I went back to school after a break I would be scared to death that I wouldn't fit into any chairs. Last semester, I knew I wouldn't have a problem so I didn't worry. The first time I sat in one of the flip top desks, I flipped it up, sat down, and "pushed" the top down as I normally do. This time, however, instead of hitting me, I heard a BANG as it hit the metal of the desk going down as far as it could (like everyone else). I was AMAZED. I kept lifting and shoving down the table top. I couldn't believe it wasn't touching me! (I fit in the other desks too).
It is so great to not have that stress in my life anymore. Fitting into chairs is my most favorite part of losing the weight I have.
I still look at every chair and ask myself "Is that strong enough to hold me?" But I still need to because I am still very large. (Just not huge)
