A bundle of nerves!

Okay, so...I am one of those people that typically get stressed and fret about every single doctors appointment I have to go to. I HATE going to the doctor. lol

Tomorrow I have my appointment with the dietician to get started with the oh-so-fun sounding protien diet, liver shrinking, pre-surgery fun-ness. BUT after that I meet with my surgeon for the first time!

Ohhhh lord let me tell you I'm nervous as hell about that. lol I just have no idea what to expect. Is he going to quiz me? What if I'm not really comfortable with him? Then again...he is a surgeon and he's one of the best, so what's to be uncomfortable about? What if he tries to talk me into the banding? I'm even nervous that for some reason I might have to take my clothes off at some point. I don't know why...but that's always a weird fear of mine. (Yeah, I'm a freak -- don't mind me lol)

I just have no idea what to expect, you know? I'm excited to sit down and talk to him, I just have no idea where the whole appointment is going to lead. I know from there it's just a wait for the insurance...and then finally...a date. *sigh of happiness and relief*

But before all that...tomorrow has to happen. So what goes on when you first meet with your surgeon?

I met my suregon at the very begining of this whole process and I meet him again before surgery. He was super nice and just told me a little bit about himself and about both procedures and asked which one i was more interested in and completely supported my decision and didn't try to change my mind. I didnt have to take my clothes off but he did kinda feel my belly, I'm assuming to make sure everything was ok. Then he asked if i had questions and answered all my remaining questions. It will be ok don't worry about it! Good luck tomorrow! (today?)

RNY on 02/12/09 with
my initial consult with the surgeon was pretty simple...i was undecided about lap band or rny and he helped me decide, he told me i was a perfect candidate for both but due to my pcos(we tend to HOLD onto our fat for dear life, especially in the GUT area) he had concerns that i would not reach goal with the band for up to two years and was confident I'd reach goal with rny in much less than a year with rny. He also had me lay back on the examining table and pushed on my tummy, he said he was checking for how soft or hard it was...i learned at my pre op class that if its hard he is more inclined to put u on a very strict diet before surgery and you are more likely to go to an open surgery. i was very soft!!! thank goodness =) other than that, it was just a "getting to know each other" meeting that lasted maybe 20 minutes, then he wrote me prescriptions(referrals) for all of my pre-op testing and said "see you at your pre-op appt!!"

good luck you'll get through it! my time line from initial consult to insurance approval was about 2 months...it took a month and a 1/2 to get all of my pre-operative testing done i.e. psych eval, upper GI, gallbladder ultrasound, and then PCP clearance.

SW-236/GW 125- pre pregnancy weight-133 / current weight- 123!!
Defeated PCOS with the help of my RNY & despite being told I couldnt have kids, i am a proud mommy to Bella Rosa =)

Ohhh thank you guys so much for saying all that. I am off to see him in just a few minutes here. I've actually done all my psych/dietician stuff for the insurance (6 months) and the program itself so now it's just...surgeon and insurance and then hopefully that won't take too long.

So nervous! Thank you guys though. :D
