Nightmares!!!

So as some of you know I am having RNY on 2-2-09.  I am so excited....recently though, last night as a matter of fact, it hit me that Im having major surgery! Im beginning to have nightmares about my anestesia (sp?) not working and I feel every bit of pulling, tugging, cutting, stapling etc.  What do I do?!?!  I have never so much as gotten a broken bone, much less had to go under a knife so to speak. Help!!!

I had the same fear... I blame it on that stupid movie that came out a year or so ago... what was it called... Awake I think.  It's not going to happen!  You are hooked up to so much, they can tell if you are "waking" u*****t.  You will have an anesth. nurse and doctor in the OR with you... you will be fine!!

Have no fear! I had the same exact concern, but there are so many vitals that would indicate consciousness, and your weight is taken the day of so you can be anesthetized properly. Also if you have any questions, just talk to the anestheiologist and the nurse anesthetist. I spoke to both of mine before being wheeled in and they answered all 2,459,443,5403 questions I had.

I know it's hard not to be scared, but you're going to do great!

it`s very normal to be scared! it was my 1th surgery 2!!!!. but its not big deal. you`ll be fine. so hang in there. it will be over befor you know.

Thanks for the info gals!  I dont know what I would do without this forum!!  Im still nervous, Im sure Ill ask a million and one questions!
