Hi My name is Tiffany and I am new to this.  I am on my way to getting everything submitted to get approval for my surgery!  I have to have proof of two support group meetings for insurance requirements.  Luckily I can post questions here and print out the questions and responses and that fulfills that requirement.  So here goes my questions.
1.  How much pain is there after surgery and how long is it really bad?
2.  How long did it take for you to be able to return to work?
3.  How long did it take to feel "normal" again, energy wise?
4.  Do any of you regret doing it?
5.  What is the best protein powder you have found and where did you get it?

That is enough for now.  I will write more questions after I see how this thread goes.  I just don't want to ask people to be answering my questions for hours at a time!  I am really excited and nervous about this journey!  Thank you in advance for shedding some light on what to expect in the future after surgery.

Hi Tiffany,

Congratulations on your weight loss journey :) I hope you get a speedy approval response!

1.  How much pain is there after surgery and how long is it really bad?
*This question is so tricky because for everyone its truly different. For me I woke up the next day virtually pain-free but once I had the morphine pump removed I did experience some discomfort. But when I went home and had to rely on taking care of myself...the pain did increase. Primarily the incesion on my side was the worst. Granted my RN made it really clear that I should not be lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk. There were several times I paid the price for not listening to that. In a month I was pretty much pain free with some very slight tenderness.

2.  How long did it take for you to be able to return to work?
*I returned in 2 weeks. My doctor suggested a month. I should've done a month. I ended up going on a modified schedule and calling out most of those days.

3.  How long did it take to feel "normal" again, energy wise?
*When the pain was gone I started to feel better. When I started taking my vitamins and eating right was around the time my pain started to fade as well. So, I hope you notice a pattern lol take your vitamins, the proper amount of time off of work, eat better, and don't over do yourself or you'll prolong the pain!

4.  Do any of you regret doing it?
*Immediately afterwards I did a million times a day but now I'm so thankful for it...soooo thankful.

5.  What is the best protein powder you have found and where did you get it?
*I'm not good with the protein powder so I take a protein liquid supplement! It's on the baratricadvantage.com website and its called PRO64. Its excellent and its the only way I can remember to get it all in!
