I am not even sure I qualify for weight loss surgery. My BMI is 39.9. I don't have any health issues. Right now, I am attending the "Options Program" through Kaiser.

Has anyone been in this same situation? Did you have alot of trouble getting approved?

 Hello!

My BMI was 40.1 on my first consult with the surgeon and I was approved with my first letter.   I also have no co-morbidities and no one acted like I wouldn't get approved.

If this is something you really are set on, I say at least have them send out the request for surgery and see what happens.

Good luck to you!

I was exactly 40 when I first weighed in at the doctors office, and I have PCOS but that's it, so I was relatively healthy. It shouldn't effect WLS if you are at 40, that's like the magic number for insurance unfortunately. mine didn't cover it no matter what, so I was a self-pay
