How soon is too soon for cosmetic surgery? I'm almost 2 months out and I've noticed that a breast reduction and lift is most likely going to be necessary. For those of you that have had the surgery...what have you heard about cosmetic surgery....like tummy tuck and boob jobs :)

I dont know if my response is going to be of any help to you but I know I'm going to wait untill 11 months post op to do anything to my breasts. (My insurance pays for it but it has to be within the year of my surgery) I want to see most of my weight gone before I have my breast done, but thats just me personally. Also, I plan to reproduce (haha) again so no tummy tuck for me untill I'm done with that. No need in going through that twice!

Good luck in whatever you choose hun!!!

hi girl. i`m only 10 months out. so i haven´t think much about that. but i know that some drs recomendations its to wait 15 months after surgery so you weigth can stabilize. in order to be a success.

Hey!  I would recommend waiting as long as possible and being at a steady weight.  My insurance had me wait until 18 mos post op and at a consistant weight for the six months prior.  This helped maximize results and keep everything perky and flat :)

It was definately a great rebirthday present :)

The more things the change, the more they're still the same.

I dont think there's much of a steady rule for length of time...just that you should be maintaining your weight for several months.  People stop losing and start maintaing at totally different time frames, so I certainly wouldn't get anything done until you've maintained for at least 6 months.
No point getting something done now, losing more weight, then the results being less than ideal at goal.
Some people also wait for an extra year on top of when they started maintaining because your skin does tighten up a little bit more in that time.

Most plastic surgeons require you to be at goal and maintained the loss for a few months... you really dont want PS if you are still losing weight because the result will change. Some PS require you to be at least 18 months out from surgery... but others dont.
Personally when I went for a consult the surgeon wanted me done losing and maintained 3 months prior to having any PS done.

I had RNY August 2006 & Tummy Tuck (TT) December 19 2008. Glad I waited, because although I have maintained this for a year things have shifted! I would say wait 2 years, to allow things to settle where they will~ Holli
