Hey Everyone !!! I totally need to VENT! I am almost 3 mnths out and i'm down just over 50lbs now. I know that my body is obviously changing, but I just don't see anything different yet. I never thought I would say this...but i am getting really sick of people saying how great I look because all I see is more of the same. Is it always like this? or do you eventually get to a point where you can see the new you. I just find it so frustrating to be going through this journey and not being able to experience the reward. Anyone have any tips? Thanks.

I completely understand!!  Your day will come!!!  I will be honest, the first year was hard because although I FELT the difference in my movement, I did not see in the mirror what I was hoping for.  Life overweight takes out a lot more of us that we sometimes let ourselves believe.  So when we have WLS it is usually when we reach our "last resort" stage--and as such, we want things fixed NOW.  We are waiting for that "weight" to be lifted from our shoulders.  And just remember, we are our own worst critics!!  Others see the weight loss in us a lot sooner than we see it in ourselves!

I started at a size XXXL/28W  and am now (three + years out) a size L/12-14.  You will have your day!!!

The mind is much much slower than the body. I remember one day I was walking and caught a girls reflection in the window of a shop.. I looked around and didnt see anybody and then realized it was me! To this day it still happens now and then... when I am not being critical and just catch a glimpse I see how skinny I look... a lot of times pictures really help. The first 6 months I did pictures/measurements each month... flipping back and forth you can really see the difference - pictures dont lie! I also would compare my pre-op with the current pic and could really see the changes.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

Thigh Lift 10/2020

Thigh Lift revision 10/2021

Obviously we all know how you feel.  Its one of the great things that isn't really talked about pre-op.  Take those photos, measurements and watch your clothes grow smaller.  You've done an amazing job!!

The more things the change, the more they're still the same.
