Surgery sooner than expected

Hey you guys. Im new posting here. Just wanted to share that I just found out that there will be no 6 month Dr. assisted diet for me before surgery. The insurance does not require it YIPPEE right. Not. I am so nervous knowing that my surgery is going to be closer than expected. The 6 months was like a buffer you know. I dont know I'll just be glad to get it over. No matter how I try to talk myself out of the surgery I think of hundreds of reasons to have it like the face Lane Bryant is now catering to the elderly and blind LOL. The thing that seriously worries me the most is the fact that I dont know how its going to affect my life everyones experience is so difference after surgery. Any Who thanks for listening or reading you know what I mean and I am so glad I found this message board for people my age.

Welcome to the board, Mz!

Not having to do the 6 mos diet is usually a blessing to most of us on the board, but I can understand how you would be nervous.  There are many differen outcomes to each person, but health is usually our common factor.  Are you in school?  Maybe check out your mental health office and sit down wih a conselor... I waited too long and should have stated seeing mine before surgery- I'm three years out and just now making huge improvements!  yay!

Anywho, we re here for you no matter what!

Stay positive and don't be nervous. I actually appreciated the 6 months. It gave me a chance to prepare to freak out about it and then educate myself even more on it. That was the pro but the con is that I had twenty million moments to freak out. Good luck to you and tell us your date when you know it!

I too thought the 6 mo diet was ridiculous, until I actually did it and then I realized it was blessing.  I then realized that I was not nearly ready for surgery at the beginning of the process but through seeing  a bariatric nutritionist for my diet and seeing a counselor for my overeating, by the end of the 6 month I felt very prepared and honestly didnt have a lot of fear.  Even though you don't have to do a 6 mo. diet, you can take a few months to educate yourself and prepare for your new life!  Best of luck to you!
