This is definitely not suppose to be negative but super informative. So, for all of you Postoppers if you have the time....write down some things that people failed to mention or you didnt make note of that would've been helpful had you known when you were a wee bitty Preopper...

1. If you are like me and medicate your emotional wounds with food expect some dark spells. I would get super down for no reason and wish so badly I could shove a cheeseburger in my mouth. It's so important to find a hobby or distraction to those moments. When life gets you down you can no longer turn to food however a good book can be just as comforting.

2. Just because I stopped taking the pain meds doesnt mean there wasnt any pain.  I stopped taking the pain meds because I was tired of killing an ant with a bulldozer. I would get so sleepy and loopy from the meds that I figured I needed to allow my body to suffer a bit so I wouldnt miss the day. Take it easy like your doctor says...dont try and be superman/woman. And expect a week or two of possibly sleeping on your back. I am a fetal position girl who's healthy in the chest area so this wasnt that much fun.
 
3. Weight loss is good no matter how many pounds it is when youre obese. So dont compare yourself to others. Some of the women and men on this board have pheneomenal stories of losing so much weight in so little time. You know them because they have a million friends on their page, amazing pictures, and just give you hope. Be honest with yourself a lot of these people are smart about working out several times a week and stick to the diet like they should. They utilize this tool and thats why they are doing so great. Which is awesome and completely achievable to the rest of us who dedicate ourselves like they did!

I hope this doesnt sound depressing! It isnt meant to be...only informative. I spent a lot of time grazing through peoples pages and looking at pictures rather than reading blogs...READ THE BLOGS. Anyone want to add anything?

you are so right.
sometimes beacuse we see people get really skyni we thing that wls is magic. but we have to push ourselfs in order to  and stay fit and healthy. it`s not been easy for me i do have to watch what i eat. and excersise in order to keep loosing the weight.
so for all the newbies. is important that they realized that its a compromise. with yourself. in order to be healty no to look good. you have to work the tool. if you don´t do it. the tool won´t work for you.
and other important thing it`s:  LOSE THE WEIGHT WON´T MAKE YOU HAPPY. AND WON´T FIX ALL YOUR PROBLEMS.... it would help to make you feel mor confortable in your own sking. but won´t solve all your life.

Measurements!!!!!!!
Pre-Ops are a Must.

When the weightloss slows, its amazing how much changes measurement wise.  Its mind boggling.

I also believe in photographs... no matter how much you hate it, take them once a month so you can see much you've improved, how small you thighs or chins have gotten.  Its amazing!!!

I wanted to add something since I'm a bit further ahead....

4.The pain will end. I think I needed to hear this even though I knew it. You will literally wake up one day and it will hurt less than the day before and the next day you forgot what all the drama was for.

5. Find good people to surround yourself with and if you can take a month off of work JUST DO IT. I took 2 weeks off and even though I could PHYSICALLY do my job, my body was exhausted and ready to heal. I just wanted to heal and rest and sleep. So if you CAN then take the time off. Even if youre young and heal quickly just do it. Plus it'll give you a chance to get it tigether with yoru vitamins.
