I have decided...

That I am not buying a scale, and I am going to hope no one gets me one for Christmas. It isnt so much on here but I am so sick of people not getting the hint and post all over the other boards how they only lost 36 pounds in a month and they expected more... that they obviously shouldnt be getting on the scale every single day 42 times a day documented their weight loss and gain. I think if anything I will just have a stupid ruler and who is gonna feel like measuring yourself all the time. haha I dont know

I think that is a good idea. Although, its not one I could adhere to!  ;)

Oh BTW, if someone bought me a scale for Christmas, they'd better watch out 'cuz I'm smacking them in the head with it!!  I mean, get me a gift card if you think I want a scale. LOL.

hey girl. i have a scale, but it's under my mom's bed...and honestly, in the beginning i got on it a little too much. and then i said screw it. i haven't gotton on a damn scale since october 15th, screw all that for now. i wanna get my priorities straight. i know i'm doing the right things and staying in the right frame of mind. i don't need to see numbers right now haha!

I haven't gotten on a scale in at least 6 months...mine only went up to 275 and I'm over that so I'm stuck without one. I know there are some that go up higher, but just haven't bought a new one. In one sense it's freeing not being attached to a scale, but there are other days where it would be nice to know if my weight is going up or down. For now I just rely on the doc's scale since I have so many appts nowadays. If someone was kind enough to buy me a scale I wouldn't mind, but only if they knew about me wanting one lol.

Wow, I am impressed.  I am sooo looking forward to seeing the numbers on the scale go down, I don't think I could resist the temptation.  But I promise not to whinge about not losing enough weight -- at least not for the first 6 months :)

good luck!

Knowing me, I would whine about numbers on the scale so honestly I think it's a good idea either not to have one or to hide it at least in the beginning.  My husband actually threatened at one point awhile ago to throw the thing out because everytime I got on it, I would cry.  In retrospect, not worth it.

I think it works either as a motivation or a depressent, depending on how you use it.   I do think I will want to use the scale regularly after the initial big weight loss.  I don't want to be blind to the fact I am gaining weight at any point if that happenes.  I think I'll try to limit myself to once a week instead of once (or more!) times a day.

Good post though, I think we all tend to base our day off of some silly numbers and the farther we can get away from that, the better.

Personally I have weighed daily for the past 8 or 9 years or so - I am not obessed with my scale but weighing each day allows me to keep control of my weight. I have a 'panic point' of 150lbs and know that I need to make some changes if the scale gets up that high.
I do agree for many early out it is too much of an obsession, for me I just weighed daily and honestly did my best not to let my scale bother me - I looked at the whole picture not just the number on the scale... my surgeon gave me an idea of what to expect and it was relastic, it took me 1.8 years to reach my current weight so I had a lot of time to learn patience.. for me it was a matter of reaching goal, not when I did, just that I did.
Basically for me the scale is another tool in my tool box. :-)

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

Thigh Lift 10/2020

Thigh Lift revision 10/2021

i do have a scale but i only weigh on fridays.. and im sure to NEVER freak about anything. Just know that everyone has stalls or a day of a little extra water weight and as long as i keep doing the right things eventually i will start losing again :) scale is friend, not foe :) hahah but really you have to do whatever works the best for you personally- everyones different :)
