Exercise???
I would say no, especially not at first. it's been HURTING for me. It can be psychologically motivating, knowing how much of a boost you have and wanting to help it along, or how much money you've spent, etc. I have heard that after losing weight people often experience more energy to want to exercise, but I am wary of relying on "may be"s and am trying to dicipline my flesh now, even if it feels like small amounts.
As someone told me lately, everyone deserves the chance to fly!
The honest reality is that whatever you struggle with pre-op will continue to be a struggle post-op until you retrain yourself for an overhauled lifestyle. So if you have a hard time exercising now, then it will be a challenge post-op. The more weight you lose, the more energy you'll gain and the more motivated you'll be to exercise and stay active overall. Just know that the surgery doesn't *fix* your head and that's where the extra hard work lies.

As you lose weight it becomes easier to exercise - less weight to carry around, less joint pain, less stuff in the way. As for energy - I struggled with low energy a lot the first year... I still struggle no, it comes and goes... I have to push myself to keep up with the exercise. Sometimes I do feel all gung-ho and have energy for days, othertimes I need a 3 hour nap.

if you don´t have energy the exersice will help you to get some, and remember you have to drink a lot of water and get all your proteins, soo u don´t feel sick and lazy.
good luck and join the exerthon. it`s a post every sunday. you can check it out on monday, so you can sing up.

I'm big on sneaking exercise into my day ie, parking the car far away, taking stairs. I'm pre-op as well and I've been making myself go to the gym to work out not only to get into the routine but to make my body stronger for hopefully a fast recovery after wards. I know that I feel so much better after a good workout and how lousy I feel after I have slacked off, so what I'm hoping is that I will really want to get back into it post-op because I haven't been able to for so long.
I don't know if I'll ever be a runner, even when I'm thin, so I just try to do activities that I enjoy. I have fallen in love with Spinning classes, which is something I never thought I'd do. So don't be afraid to try something new, you might love it!
Best of luck to you!!
