A plateau is when you do not lose pounds OR inches for 4 weeks or longer - my first suggestion is to get out the tape measure... if you hit 4 weeks and have seen no loss on either the scale or tape measure I would contact your NUT to go over your eating.
I hit a plateau months 8, 9 and it broke in 10... I tried everything (You can read on my blog) that I thought of or people suggested... I finally saw my NUT she suggested a few simple changes and within 2 weeks I dropped 11 pounds. Your nutritional needs at this point may not fit the 'mold'... the further out you get (IMO) the more personalized it needs to become.. especially depending on activity levels. If you have been working out your body gets use to a routine in approx 6 weeks so its time to switch it up or ramp up the intestity. Keep in mind as you lose weight it becomes 'easier' for your body so you have to push more to get the same burn going. You can find a lot of great workout routines online (I like MSN fitness) so get moving. If you are not exercising well its time to get going!

Whenever I want to get over a hump or kiss a pound goodbye for good (esp when I lose it, and then gain it, and lose it gain it etc.) I up my protein and cut out most carbs. I will do two protein shakes a day and then center my snacks and meals around protein! Try it. If I do it for a wk usually that is enough to get me where I want to be.
