Congrats!!!  Well I havent had my surgery yet but I have had some concerns also and asked and people have told me that Yes people in thier 20's still have loose skin... I have had a baby so it might be worse for me... I have soo many strech marks... So I am gonna save some of my taxes in case my insurance doesnt cover it...

I know everyone says this but... every body is different. that said, it does surely help that you're young, and it will also be easier for your body to adjust if 1. it hasn't been stretched too much before (quickly is what I hear, like rapid weight gain or pregnancy) and 2. if you lose weight slower it sometimes helps cause your body can keep up more (so I hear). Excercise is big too, but there are quite a few 20 somethings on this site that have also gotten plastics. it makes sense, since they have a long life left to live so sagging skin is not something they wish to keep around. good luck with your surgery

Hi there~ Congrats on your December 1st date for your RNY!  Dr Warnock is the best, but I'm a bit biased cuz he did mine 4 plus years ago and I still love him to death!  As for the skin thing, I started off 3 lbs under you, I had skin...  it wasn't the best, it wasn't the worst either.  I've had a tummy tuck (but also a hernia repair at the same time) and a breast reduction.  I think it really depends on the person and what you've been through prior to WLS (i.e. how long you've been overweight).  Hope that helps~ If you need anything, let me know!

Yes, you will have some wiggle/jiggle/sag... while it shouldnt be as bad as people bigger/older everything will not snap back.
I was older when I had surgery but to 'fix' everything to make it normal I am looking at 30-40,000$ worth of surgery... I have all the same 'bad' areas as others - arms, breasts, stomach, inner thighs... I will say my arms are not horrible and my legs came out good but my stomach is bad... my boobs are fine in their bra, just always need support and a lot of padding! lol

In my late teens/very early 20's, I had gained weight up to about 220, then lost down to 145. I had no loose skin issues. My stomach looked great.

Now... I had a baby and gained back up to 300. I'm back down to 225, but I know that I will need plastic surgery if I want to be able to look at myself naked in the mirror and not feel the urge to make funny faces with the skin on my stomach.

I think for me, it was the pregnancy. I'm sure I would have been a little flabby even without having a baby, but that's what gave me the stretch marks.

RNY on 12/20/05 with
we get this question all the time on this board, people hoping they won't have loose/excess skin. as it maybe better than someone older than us, i think everyone here who ha**** goal, or has lost a large amount of weight has some skin issues. it's going to happen unfortunately. i have lost 270 lbs. and look awful under my clothes, but i would not trade it for anything. so even though it may be unsightly, ur health will be much better off. and good luck with ur upcoming surgery!

hi. I think that loose skin is the last thing you have to worry about. if you have some after surgery you can always have plastics. focus on how good things are gonna be and to stay healthy
congrats. and goood luck!!!!!!!!!
hugs.

Hello!  I had lap band almost 3 years ago, and I lost 90 pounds.  I'ma tell you, there's a a good chance that there will be some flabbiness <--is that a word? (lol), especially if you don't do some light weight lifting.  My doctor said the key is to try to do some toning to prevent the loose skin, and it's easier for younger patients.  Anywho, good luck on your surgery, I wish you all the best!
