whats a girl to do? Everywhere I go I'm surrounded by the sugary, creamy, chocolatey, nougatey, carmely stuff. I can practically taste. I'm on the verge of throwing all catuion to the wind, and running out and devouring an entire bag. Yikes!
How to I stay away from candy during this time of year?

Just have one piece.... Just incase you get sick... someone told me to give into cravings... But just in moderation cause you dont want to over do and maybe ur body will accept it, or not ....

i agree go with one piece, then walk away, or go out and get the sugar free stuff...not the best but it gets the job done oh and next time you get the cravings crab a piece of gum! that works for me. good luck!

two things may help:

1. Limit the exposure to it- every time you see it, talk about it, walk by it, you are constantly reminding yourself that you can't have it, and you want it, and the denial is no fun. Don't let yourself think about it. when the idea comes up, think about what you can have, or change the subject

2. Remember that it really isn't about cannot have and about deprivation. you CAN have that chocolate halloween candy, and that's often what one piece can prove. But remember, its your decision, and you are into chosing things that are better for you- I know this is kinda a psychology trick but it's looking at it in a different perspective. not, I CAN'T but, I don't want to because my bigger goals matter so much to me.

good luck!

I don't know about you.....but I def can not just have one piece! Which is probably how I got fat to begin with. I have sugar free candy. They are good, but you won't eat the whole bag (because if you do you will get diarrhea)!!!!

I haven't had candy yet (since my surgery in May).  I don't know about you, but I don't trust myself to just have one yet and a lot of people say the more carbs you eat the more you want.  Especially simple sugars.   But at the same time you don't want to feel deprived.   Make a plan and stick with it, you can do it!!!

just a heads up with the sugar free candy, it still contains sugar alcohols. this also can cause dumping, sometimes even worse than regular sugar.

Well... I eat the candy. lol. I dont go crazy but there are certain candies that come out this time of year that are my favorite! I try and buy from the bulk bins if possible so I can just get a few of my favorites... if I have to buy a bag then I bring to work and share with co-workers and just keep a little for myself. I allow myself treats now and then - I keep it a treat and ENJOY it... not just mindfully throw it into my mouth over and over until I feel blah... I am a person of balance, not a 'no' person and that is what has worked for me the past 2.5 years :-)
As a side note I also upped my exercise routine a bit to off set all the delicious candy corn I have eaten! lol
