Trust me that I sympathize with the military income thing (I'm an Air Force wife, too)...  I don't know how much a surgeon's fee is and I'm sorry to hear Tricare has stiffed the doctor.  Is there any other alternatives for you to go to if his fees end up being too much?  I would think if Tricare said they'll pay for it, that means they'll pay it... they just are frustrating sometimes, I swear....  I hope it all works out for you, girl~ Keep us posted!

which procedure are you having? I'm self-pay for Lap-Band, and my total procedure cost is about 17,500 only 3,000 is my surgeons fees. The rest is hospital, anestesia, etc. I imagine bypass is at least a little more but I dare not speculate on what that "more" is.

hey there,

You should check out Dr. gerald Cahil at little company of mary.  Sometimes surgeon fees can be an upward of 8 grand.  Also Silver Cross hospital is excefllent.  The care is fantastic  and they preform a lot of bariatric procedures there.  Its located in Joliet if you arent familiar with it.

I live close to you and am looking in to having the DS done rather then the RNY... but educating myself on these costs is extremely important... i totally understand.

PM me if you have anymore questions
