I want to rip my hair out! or my lazy PCP's hair out!
So I have the crappiest PCP out there. The only reason I've gotten where I am today is because all of her partners left so she was the only doc left to take over patients in the practice and needed a helper. Well I was seeing her helper til she left on Friday and she's the one who has been getting everything in line for my surgery stuff. I told her how crappy my doc was and that I was worried she'd screw this all up for me. The helper doc said she would catch her up and everything would be fine. If today is a sign of what's to come it's not good.
I have edema from my weight and liver. The helper doc gave me water pills for it last week and said if I was still having problems call the office and my regular doc should be able to help since everything is documented in my chart. I call the office today. The doc tells me to go to the ER for it! I was beyond pissed. I spent my whole morning in the ER and do you know what they told me...absolutely nothing new. They said this was something my PCP should and could have taken care of herself. They found nothing we didn't already know through a bunch of unnecessary tests and sent me on my way. They doubled my water pill and gave me vicodin for my joint pain...told me to see the PCP this week to get a more permanent prescription for my joint pain. I have an appt with her now on Friday. My fiancee is going with me in case she jerks me around.
I'm so paranoid she's going to mess up my surgery stuff. I've been planning on finding a new pcp, but put it off because of how helpful the helper doc was and I had hoped my regular doc would be supportive and helpful too, but I don't think that's going to happen. I made a call to a new office already and they're going to let me know if they'll take me on this week. I also called my surgeons office and they said that switching docs shouldn't mess up my referral, but I might have to restart my weight loss management. I'd only lose a month and I'd rather do that than go through this whole process with a half assed doc just to get denied. My weight loss thing is only 3 months compared to the usual 6 so what's an extra month? I'd still be under the usual 6 month wait period so I don't think it's a big deal.
I'm just so frustrated and not very happy!
