Backfat?!

Okay...so I am getting married in May. My dress is strapless and I would LOVE to beat out my slight case of..."backfat". Also...tone up my arms. I am wondering if anyone has found anything that works. I know lifting weights will help tone, but where do you start? How much weight to start out with is too much weight? I would love to hear what you all have to say. Thanks in advance!

Hey Gorgeous!  When I did bootcamp we started with 2-5 pounds.  Since my arms are pretty muscular to begin with (thank you 50 pound bags of feed) the instructor had me start at 5 pounds.

So some googling on toning the back... we sat on yoga balls and toned both the core and back as we lifted the weights.  I wish I was back in bootcamp as I type this, lol.

When I was early out, I used cans of soup... those may help you for now until you have a chance to find something else.

Good luck!

Hey Jenn,
It must be exciting preparing for a wedding!!!! Personally I have a personal trainer and he has helped me to stay on track. When I stopped sessions with my personal trainer I became lazy and went to the gym occasionally. This is what I usually do when I go to the gym. I do the treadmill for an hour. The first mile I walk at a fast pace. The second mile I put my incline the highest it will go. The third mile I walk at a fast pace and the last mile I run for half of it and walk the rest.

When I lift weights I focus first on my arms first. I do 3 sets of 15 reps on different machines which I can usually lift about 40-45 lbs. I rest 1 minute inbetween the sets. I wish I knew the names of the machines that I use but I dont. In addition, my trainer will give me dumb-bells and I can usually lift between 8-12 pounds and it is the same sets and reps that I mentioned previously but he will usually have me on a big ball lifting upwards or lying on a bench while doing crunches. It seems easy to do but you sweat like a motha! :)

After focusing on my arms I will transition to the legs and do 3 sets of 15 reps resting inbetween the sets for 1 minute. I do a log of leg lundges. I use the machines and can usually lift close to 100 pounds but for the machines where you lift downwards I can do about 60 pounds.

I hope this little information has helped you. Also a good diet helps with the backfat!

I'm still working on my arms as well  But I hope you find something that works...  I know you're going to make the most stunning bride at your wedding.
