I've noticed that after the surgery alot of 20somethingers have decided to do some marathon running and some triathlons. Is there a place online where you can find a marathon in your area. Or maybe even something small and slower for us beginners...like a walkathon?

Tennille,
One of my future goals is to complete a triathalon. I did a duathalon (running/cycling) a couple of years ago so the triathalon is my next step. The easiest way for me to find out where 5k's or Marathons are taking place is go to local running stores websites. We have several in our area. As far triathalons go, you can check out www.trifind.com and search for tris in your state. I am running my first 5k post-op on October 18 at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. In my opionion a 5k is the best way to get your foot in the door and to see if this is really something you want to do.

I'm training for my first 5k that I'm doing on Dec 27th, one day after my one year surgiversary :)

If you haven't already, check out the Exercise and Fitness forum- alot of runners on there with all different levels of experience. They are always very helpful and motivating :)

Also not sure if anyone told you about the Couch to 5k program at coolrunning.com. It's awesome. You can even google "couch to 5k podcast" and download pod casts that thell you when to run and when to walk so you don't have to keep looking at a stop watch. It's an awesome program.
