I live with my parents an my sister. I had the surgery on Aug 8 last year.. I have had my ups an downs but now I am on a up an my family just went shopping an brought all JUNK I mean cookies candies no fruit no veggies... Now yes I am 22 however I am a full time student trying to find a job to make my own money so that I can get my healthy food but I dont understand why they are doing this. My parents are both over weight so one would think they would want healthy stuff in the house but no.... I dont know what to do I try talking to them about it but to no help... I am scared.. to gain anything back... Lindsay

I would make the best decisions you can in your house (stick to your proteins and avoid the junk).   And if I were you I would also keep looking for a job so you can buy your stash of healthy foods for your family.   I don't live with my parents, but when I go visit them (or my in-laws for that matter) I show up with healthy goodies.   My family are "feeders"   They like to cook and they like for people to eat it.   They are sometimes pushy about it.   So if I am prepared it helps.   For now try to stick to your staples especially where you are still early out. ~ Leslie

Why not try providing your parents with a list of foods to pick you up? You are 22 years old, while they may buy the groceries it doesnt mean they have to make the decisions for you... you have to be your own advocate. If worse comes to worse ask them for an allowance to go buy your own groceries so you can get what it is you need... or find a p/t job and work a few hours a week to buy the stuff yourself.

As I said I am looking for a job.. but it is tough. I have asked them to pick certain things up before an I was told if I stay in this house I was to eat what was here. or nothing .

I know that meat can be expensive, but vegetables are generally pretty cheap!  Even if you could get like $5 or 10 for veggies that alone could feed you for a week or two!  Then some protein powder to cover your protein needs....obviously not the best option for long term, but it sounds like it beats eating garbage.

Your situation sounds like they spite you in some way...that is not fair knowing what you have been through, to not be supportive of your health/life choices.  Sounds like you need to have a talk, and remind them that your diet requirements are quite strict, and although you live under their roof, you don't really have any other financial options at the moment!
