Anyone else here banders or any surgery able to drink really any amount of liquids no problem post op?  Were any of you still real hungry after eating?  I am 10 days post op and, these liquids are sliding right on through my band and doing nothing for me, besides obviously giving me my nutrients.  I'm mentally strong about it, but I can say it does get a little frustrating at times.

I'm still pre op so I can't help but I just wanted to say Congrats on having your surgery.

I'm an RNY patient, but I can tell you the early post-op days are the toughest in terms of getting used to the whole new routine and staying mentally strong.  By the end of my 14 days of liquids, I was ready to gag on shakes and soups.  UCK!  So here a lil post to say "Hang in there.  Delicious food and satisfaction WILL come.  Liquids are the toughest phase, but you're almost done and soon you'll be eating again... AND posting weight loss!  Whoohoo!

If what you are asking is if I can take regular size sips of a drink...the answer is yes...also, Liquids dont make me feel full at all...unless they are full liquids... I talked to my nut and she said to take whatever size sip I want...as long as I get my fluids in...hope this helps?

I had RNY, my surgeon said to basically 'do the best you can' the first 4 weeks - evenutally I could get all the liquids in no problem but it took me time to get it all worked out.
Personally I was never hungry after eating... at first it was more of a mental battle with trying to deal with the restrictiveness but even at over 2 years out I rarely feel hungry... you really have to learn the difference between physical hunger and mental hunger - there are some good books out there, I reccomend The Beck Diet Solution, it deals with the mental side of eating and is not a diet book per se (like atkins etc).

Liquids will usually go straight through.  Are you on a full liquid diet? If you are then I was allowed mashed potatoes on a full. You can also try a protein shake.  I have a protein shake in the morning and it keeps me fuller throughout the day.

Here is the recipe its really good...

1 cup milk (fat free)
2 scoops gnc 100% whey protein powder (chocolate)(20 grams a scoop)
1 packet sugar free carnation instant breakfast (chocolate)
Lite cool whip

I cant handle the premade protein drinks, yuck!

If you have any more questions feel free to send me a message.
