Post op foods...
What foods does everyone tolerate welll...and what do not go down well...
I know everyone is different so I just wanted to know how everyone is doing..and what theyre eating..so i can have some ideas!!
I have been issues with eeating salad...not sure exactly what it is yet..maybe onions..but it makes me sick :( and im not too happy about it.
I just realized that the calcium tablets I have been taking are over 2g of sugar and I should be dumping from them..but I havent...
well anyway...and check out my pics I added new ones :)

Like you said, everyone is different...Several people at my support group meeting have trouble with salads and red meat.
But here are some things that work for me:
Lean meats-chicken, tuna, salmon, 96% lean ground beef, pork loin, turkey
Nuts- peanuts, cashews, raw almondsf (also peanut butter/sunflowerseed butter/almond butter)
Cheeses- pepperjack is my fav, but I buy a lot of 2% milk cheeses to add to soups or chili
Protein icecream-this is how I get in my protein shakes, it has really helped me
Veggies- beans (black, pinto, kidney, lentils, and green beans), steamed broccoli, cooked carrots, yams, salad sometimes
Check out Eggface's blog.....she has some Amazing recipes and ideas I recommend you look at her protein icecreams and her tortilla pizzas, both are staples at our house.

Hope that helps

I know at 3 months out I was DYING for a salad...funny enough I could barely tolerate it, it was the chewing part that got me...I am still obsessive about chewing though...if it doesn't disenegrate I don't swallow it...sounds gross I know but I am terrified of something getting stuck...Anyways. Just try different things slowly and that will help you determine what is really bothering you after you are eating it. Kinda like introducing a baby to solid foods...you have to start with one at a time to make sure they are not allergic to that particular food...treat your pouch the same way...
As far as the calcium tablets...I am sure mine have sugar in them but I was told not to consume anything over 5g of sugar (not natural sugars but added sugars) I have been taking Caltrate for over a year now and my labs are perfect...I also take Centrum chewables...no problem there either...
Hope this helps...have a good day!!

I can't do salad either. Lettuce and Celery are hardest to digest due to the make up of the vegetables. So, no salads for me :(
Two grams of sugar is not really alot... I don't dump on two grams either.
I also can't do carb and sugar combos- such as milk. It isn't the lactose, its the combo of sugar and carbs. Sucks majorly as I used to looove cottage cheese and yogurt, but now am unable to tolerate it.
Constant trial and error... I'm almost three years out and stuff I couldn't do at the beginning I can do now, and vice versa.

The more things the change, the more they're still the same.
I'm 8 mos out and tolerate things really well. Bread is the one thing I really avoid, mostly because it's icky, gluey and stickey after all that chewing. YUCK! I live on cheese, protein bars, chili, peanut butter, fruits and veggies, oatmeal and milk. Lately dense proteins like chicken don't sit really well, but I think that's due to stress. Fish is awesome and I enjoy it much more than I ever did pre-op.
Oh, and yeah, onions are known to be a gascious culprit!

2g of sugar shouldnt cause you to dump - actucally the majority of RNYers do NOT dump, of those that do its off different forms and amounts of sugar. If you are drinking milk (even soy milk) check the sugar in there - dont forget that fruit has sugar in it as well. Most surgeons/NUTs have a guideline of sugar they like you to stay under, some say as low as 5g per serving, some are more around 10gs or so.
Personally I can eat anything and everything, nothing boters me :-)
