i definately overpacked for my stay in the hospital. My advice to you would be pack lightly. Toiletries, loose fitting clothes to go home in, robe, slippers(i wore flip flops) and that's about it! Good luck on your upcoming surgery date!

You don't want to overpack (but we all seem to do it).  Don't forget your chapstick, loose clothing, houseshoes (I hate the socks they give you at the hospital), and that is about it.   I brought things to read and do, but honestly I was either walking, sipping fluids, or sleeping while I was in the hospital...I didn't read ANYTHING.

I remember my last two weeks, I made lists of everything I needed to get done before I would be off work for 4 weeks, and what I wanted done at home before I went to the hospital.

Good luck! ~ Leslie

I was definitely an over packer as well.  Definitely make sure you pack chapstick.  You're going to need it.  And then your essential toiletries, loose clothes and easy slip on shoes.  i would maybe suggest calling the hospital and check to see if you can take your own robe and pj pants for walking around in.  My hospital allowed it.  I took books as well but didn't read anything either.  I slept whenever I could.

As far as the before, cleaning and organizing for when you get back.  You're not going to want to do anything when you come home.  I went through every room in my apartment and scrubbed, checked out library books for my return home, visited with friends, shopped for my foods for the first couple of phases so I didn't have to shop afterwards.

Good luck!  Your date is right around the corner!
