I'm so HUNGRY!

I am so upset with myself!  I have been SO hungry lately and I don't know why! I am 5 months post op and even though my portions are smaller, I feel as tho I have more meals through out the day :-(  I haven't lost a pound in over a month!  I wish I could control this hunger but I feel like it's the addiction coming back, rather than me actually being hungry.  Any advise would be appreciated.....Thanks,

Lara

It is normal to up the portion size since our pouch is fairly healed at five months.  Are you drinking all of your water, etc?

I know when I switch up my calories while working out I tend to lose weight quicker than staying on the same caloric intake.

If you feel its the head hunger rather than actual hunger, maybe seek a therapist?

Just some ideas... hopefully there are more :)

Thanks Jaci!  I've actually been looking for a therapist at my school, I'm just afraid that since it's free i'll be working with young college students still, but it may be worth it!  Thanks so much for commenting back!  I really do appreciate it!

As did I... but when I went in there and asked about it, I found out my therapist is actually an intern working on her certification directly under the head family therapist.  She is well qualified- has all the requirements, just needs hours or something like that.  I've been to her four times and already have a more positive outlook.  If nothing else, she's there for me to talk to... and I don't have that outside of the office.  She helps me put everything into perspective and doesn't let me forget about my well being :)

I heart her!

I'm right at the 5 month mark myself and completely understand what you're saying!  I seemed to be eating more than what i know I should have.

Are you making sure to get in all your proteins and water?  I was having problems losing weight as well and did a week of just concentrating on my fluids and my protein intake to make sure I was getting it all in.  I went back to concentrating on the basics of chewing and really paying attention to when I was full and not going past that.  It gave me that boost and made me realize that I had gotten "comfortable" with eating again and had stopped paying as much attention as I should have.  I'm now definitely back to losing.  This is what worked for me, anyway.  If you do decide to something like this, be very careful and i would suggest not doing it more for more than a week as our bodies need nutrients from other foods.

As Jaci said with her caloric intake, I've heard others say the same thing.  Once they upped their calories, they started losing again.

Good luck!

Did you do an all liquid diet for a week?  Or just focused on making sure you got the right amount of liquids?  Thanks so much for your help!

No, I absolutely did not do an all liquid diet.  There  were people that suggested it to me but I didn't want to regress that far.  I just made sure that I was getting in AT LEAST 60oz of water in a day and then the right amount of protein for me.  And just paying attention to when I was full and chewing very thoroughly.

You are more than welcome!  It was the least I could do since someone else gave me this idea.  It's all about sharing our ideas and our experiences around here and helping each other out.  I would very much be interested in hearing how it goes for you, if you are ok with sharing your week with me.

God luck!
