I'm 24 and am pre-op for RnY. My first consult is 3 months from now which is quite exciting because I was originally going to be waiting 12 months from now for my first consult (2 yrs total) but got a referral to a different surgeon a couple weeks ago with a **MUCH shorter** waitlist. For a while there was only one surgeon in my area, and now there are a couple (finally) hence the wait (plus I'm in Canada so there's no insurance to try/wait to be approved for, so there's more people waiting to have WLS done from what I understand)
Surgery date, from rumors I hear about my surgeon, should be around March-May or so 2009. Long time for everyone else, AWESOMELY SHORT WAIT for me (avg here is 2-4 years)
So I'm excited, and joined here not too long ago, hoping to learn of some personal experiences of other people in the process, just hoping the next few months go by faster! Been "officially" waiting for 1 year and unofficially waiting for 4 at this point so every month counts and feels like forever!
Just hoping to meet some people around my age as well, and want to follow some people's journeys.

Hey girl, welcome and congrates on your upcoming consult and sugery! Im from Canada as well. Ontario to be exact! Everyone is right your date will be here in no time! I decided to go to the states because of the wait time for me. I would have like to stay in Ontario, but I couldnt wait that long for me is was a 4 year wait. But IM quite happy with my decision to head over the way!LOL. You will meet lots of wonderful people here. ITs a great place to vent and jsut talk to anyone. So good luck with everything and keep us updated with your progress!
