Had to rent a recliner...
I just wanted to post this 'cause it amuses me!
I had RnY on Monday and came home last night. It was HELL trying to get out of my flat bed to pee in the middle of the night!
I made my boyfriend sleep on an inflatable mattress (was here for my Mom) 'cause in the middle of the night he unconsciously rolls and tries to snuggle by grabbing my abdomen.
But I just rented a recliner from Rent-A-Center; $60 for a month (I think that's not too bad!). I'm excited! I've always been able to sleep quite well in a recliner and it'll make getting in and out so much easier! Our couch is a love seat, pull out, so it's really stinkin' close to the ground. I tried getting out of it 'cause UPS had knocked on the door to deliver and it took me 5 minutes - LOL. At least he left them on the ground outside.
I live in an apartment and we don't technically have room for a recliner, but I think it will be out of the way enough if we place it in front of the fish tank.
How did YOU take on the challenge of sleeping after surgery???
For you individuals having not had surgery, you might make sure you have sleeping arrangements that won't kick your butt/hurt your wounds! I thought about it, but figured renting a piece of furniture would be exensive! Now I wish I had called and had it ready when I got home!

I haven't had my surgery yet but I did learn to get a recliner! I had hernia surgery about three months ago and they cut me open near my belly button (about 6 inches). Holy Crap! I have never felt such pain trying to get up just to go to the bathroom! Then to make it worse; I could go down to go to the bathroom but getting up was a real operation. LOL Sorry... probably to much information! Anyhow, I invested in a recliner then and I am now glad I have it for this upcoming surgery! I hope you feel better soon! Good luck on your journey! Im pretty nervous about this too. My surgery is next tuesday and wont be home till Friday. I co-sleep with my 17 month old son, and he takes up the whole bed..and even my hubby has to go sleep on the couch sometimes.. poor guy.. But im pretty sure ill be sleeping on the couch and hubby with my son. But we do have a recliner so if I have to sleep on it I will. Its not like Ihavent slept on it for weeks at a time anyways, when my son was sick.. lol. But I think $60 a month isnt that bad either. Congrats on your surgery and I hope your recovery isnt too bad!
i slept flat on my sofa, i was told not to sleep in a recliner for fear of possible developing bloodclots from having legs in a down position for hours.
I was on the sofa for 2 weeks then went to my husbands side of the bed (it was easier to lay on his side and get on my left side for me to get on my side and lay on my left side would be difficult haha) I would have probably been i my bed the whole time if it had been on a frame (yeah back thenmy bed was on the floor)
now I have a wonderful sleep number bed which is wonderful because as my weight has changed i have changed my sleep number to be more comfortable.
