My surgery is on Aug 20th. I'm on the pre-op diet. And Seriously having the hardest time with it. I'm tired and freaking exhausted and I switched my bc and the reduced my estrogen by 50%, and I'm super cranky. I'm absolutly miserable!...

I'm sorry your having a hard time. Im on my 4th day of liquid diet. During the day it has its ups and downs for me. The mornings arent bad, the afternoons are HORRIBLE and dinnertime is VERY HARD but after that its not bad again. Im also getting in all of my protein and im taking my vitamins and b-12s but I still dont have energy. I still have 2 lbs to lose in 4 days.. I cant believe that I have only lost 2 lbs on my pre-op diet so far..

Goodluck and be strong!

hi, i know how you are feeling. but those feeling are very normal. i had guilty feeling a couple of months after surgery. i was asking my self why i did that to my body.
but today 6 months after surgery if people ask me if I`d Do it again. I`ll say YESSSSSSSSSSS 100%. Is the best think i have done for my self, i don´t regreat it a bit. the only think that i regreat is to let my self to get to that point. but this is life saving. you are gonna be so happy . that all of the unconfortable situations that you are having now are gonna be good memories. so hang in there you wont regreat it . you will see.

The pre-op diet is hard, but totally important.  Just think of it as practice for the first couple weeks post-op (though post-op you'll have the benefit of a pouch).  The suck-y parts of my WLS journey are totally nothing compared to all the ways in which my life is better thanks to my RNY.  It is worth it.

My doctor told me prior to my surgery WHY the liquid diet is so important and that really helped me stick with it. basically your liver sits on top of your stomach and during the laproscopic surgery he uses a tool to push your liver aside to get to your stomach. our liver is normally very fatty for us obese people and the liquid diet flushes our system and helps shrink our liver so that during surgery it does not fall back onto the stomach and cause complication during surgery. Trust me i know how boring and hard it is to be on a liquid diet. but its practice for the post op liquid diet where you will be ecstatic to be getting something other than water and ice chips. Stick with it be strong its totally worth it in the end. Much luck to all of you and know we all had to do it too.

See you on the losers bench!
