hey yall
Ok so Im New to OH! I had my surgery on June 11, 2008 so Im 2 months out! 45 lbs down! I have a question for yall. How did your friends and family react when you told them you wanted the surgery or that you had it. I ask because I have told most of my friends and family but there are a couple that have absolutely noo clue I wanted it or have had it. I was just afraid of their reaction. You know how some people are ignorant about this surgery and think it is the easy way out. (which is the dumbest thing anyone could think seeing as this is hard as hell and takes a lot of determination) but anyways lol. I was just wondering if anyone can relate. hey kala. wellcome to the board, and congrats , 45 lbs woow.
in my case was diferent `cuz my father offered me the surgery. 1th i didn´t want to tell any body, but my parents were so excited about my surgery that all of my relatives and close friends new right away. they were very supportive, cuz i`m the only overweight of the family so they allways have been worry about my weight issue. my granfather was the only person who was agains it. but know that he see me so happy he say that is the best thing i ever done for my self.
my friends were more excited that i was. i was so scared, i won´t lie. so they gave me the courage to keep on. so i feel very lucky about that.
now if people ask me what i did to lose all that weight i say : i go to a nutricionist and go to the gym 5 times per week. and that`s not a lie is the truth but not the hole one. haha. but if they ask me if i had surgery i say yes.`
there is nothing wrong with that`, i`m very proud of my self to have the courage to take charge of my life again.
i was sick and i got the cure.
so if people ask say yes, and educate them if you have the chance to do that.

AWESOME 45lbs! Well, I have had almost all positive reactions about my choice to have surgery. However, my brother is the only one who says I'm taking the easy way out. And whats funny is that he has know me the longest and seen me have a weight problem my whole life.... I say just stay strong! I know I'm having a pretty rough time.
As for ignorant people I love educating about the surgery and the different types of operations... How have the reactions to you rapid weight loss been? =)
