Oprah takes on WLS Again on Monday

I hae seen her shows that have talked about bypass / various types of WLS before and 7/10 of them end with my completely pi$$ed because she comes off self righteous and makes bypass seem either like some back-alley-frankenstein-surgery or a cop out.

But on Monday she is talking specifically about younger people and drastic interventions to help them lose the weight, and after looking over the synopsis on Oprah's website the show seems like it is going to be a more positive spin.  I don't think this one has aired before, but I could be wrong.  At any rate, you can bet I'll be tuned in Monday if at all possible, and I figured this show would be of interest to everyone here.

Here's the link to the show...

Any thoughts?

I have seen this one before.   I DVR Oprah (don't always watch it) but I scan to see if I want to.   This episode orginally aired right after I was approved for WLS by my insurance.   I thought they were fair on the show...didn't agree with everything said, but overall I thought it was fair.  I remember that one teen on there had the surgery when they were 13, so some of the patients were really young having the surgery.

I am going to have to watch this again as a post-op to see if my opinions have changed on anything now that I have "been there"

Someone called me from her show once and they wanted to hear about "my problems." When I said it was wonderful, best decision I ever made, etc. The lady was like oh well we are doing a show on the negative aspects so you would not be a good candidate. Darn right I wouldn't be a good candidate!!!

Oh boo to that! It's like the news stations that don't get both sides to the story! I wish they'd just have a neutral look on things like this and report/talk about every side possible.

What can I say about Todays show.... well for starters Oprah seems so full of it... to me it was like she was talking down to those kids on stage and made it seem like the girl that could do it all on her own without surgery was better then the rest of them.... Seriously how dare she! I am outraged.... I commend everyone WLS or not if you can take the step into a new and improved you a healthier you then right on! Keep doin the damn thing!
