*My Husband and I have what I feel is a valid concern.
We are both concerned that I'm going to be sick for the rest of me life after the surgery, and that the tolerance of food, drinks, ect. could be completely altered, and our life as we know it will be miserable. *Also to add to me concern my husband and i want to have children after my surgery of course waiting the 18 months.I don't want to ruin my chances of that. we would be devistated.

*Also I'm curious about the statistics, such as dealth, malnutrition in comparison to the success.*

Thanks, The date it getting closer and we are going over everything to make sure that the procedure is right for me and for us

I have never been 'sick' since surgery - of course there is a healing process and limitations placed on what you can eat by the surgeon but as more time passed my eating moved to 'normal'. I can eat what I want, drink what I want etc and am perfectly fine... I do not have any food intolerances, I have never dumped and never thrown up once since surgery.
Keep in mind each person is different - some people dump, some throw up, some have food intolerances - however you HAVE to change you thinking from 'living to eat' to 'eating to live'... anybody I know with a food intolerance has just accepted it and moved on... most say they dont miss whatever it is they can no longer eat.
Personally I dont know anybody who has been 'sick' since surgery, while there may be bumps in the road the people I know that are 5, 6, 7, 8+ years out are all pretty much 'normal'.

Statistics change based on surgeon, you should ask your surgeon their personal stats. My surgeon has never had a patient die and said malnutrition is rare.

As for children - if anything the surgery should help you have a healthier pregnancy since you will not be overweight, you should also be eating much healthier, exercising and overall having a healthier lifestyle, there is a pregnancy board where you can post and express your concern and they can address better.

hi, most of patients have no problem at all. and only 30% dump if they eat something they shouldn´t.   the chances that you are 100% fine is very high. just have to be responsable for your health and take your vits.
about the babys i know people with surgery who had  babies with no problem. you may wanna check the wls pregnacy forum you can find it next to the 20`s board and ask all the cuestions you want.
all people that i know with wls will do it again. so relax. you`ll enjoy life better than you are doing now.
good luck .
