OKay, so I am nearing my surgery date (only 40 days away) and I want to start preparing for my hospital stay and what not. Does anyone have any neccessities that you couldn't live without in the hospital?? Also I had some questions about vitamins. Everyone talks about all the deficiencies post surgery...what are the most common and do you think its a good idea to start supplementing before surgery?? Thanks for ur help everyone.

First congrats on your upcoming surgery!!!

Regarding vitamins I would ask your surgeon next time you see him (that is what I did pre-op)

Regarding what to take to the hospital, I was glad I brought house shoes, comfy pj's or sweats, and chapsticks.  I hate the socks they put on me at the hospital they get twisted, and you don't want to be barefoot in the hospital.  After surgery you will be glad to have some chapstick!

Besides that the rest was just gravy, nothing that I couldn't have lived without.

Oh, the last thing....read as much as you can about your upcoming surgery, I like to be well informed and it help there not be a lot of surprises.

i recommend your own tooth brush and tooth paste!! it was refreshing to brush my teeth when the only thing i could have was ice chips! hospital toothpaste just doesnt cut it!
