Just wondering

Okay I'm almost 2 months out and I'm down about 40 lbs.  I know this is great/awsome/wonderful, but at the same time I kind of feel like is this it?  I know I am most likely being very impatient but I think about how little I eat, and I'm exercising way more than I did before the surgery.  I feel like the weight should be coming  off more quickly, I mean in the last week I only lost 2 lbs, whats up with that?  Am I just being bratty here or what?

I would say your right on track...everybody loses at their body's own rate, we're all individuals -  ten people could all eat the exact same amount of calories and do the same exercise and each one will lose slightly more or less then the other...Also, in the year and a half or so that I've been around O.H. the number one most common time for someone to hit a slow-down or even a dreaded plateau, is right around 4-8 weeks out...It just happens, happened to me, and a lot of others, mine lasted like three weeks and I thought "great this was my last resort, and I figured out a way to screw even this up!"....but plateaus bust, and you start losing again, until then try to keep your chin up, you'll get to your goal before you know it!

Thanks Michael, I really appreciate the support.  And you're right I was thinking to myself what if this is it?  Did I really go through all this (the surgery) just to fail already!  I will definietly try to be more positive and watch out to get through the plateau!

Hi Rachel!  You're not being bratty, we've all been there.  I'm not being sarcastic, but when was the last time you lost 20 pounds per month?  =)  Your body is likely catching up not only from surgery but from losing weight so quickly.  You've gotta give it a second to adjust to its new life.  I didn't lose anything in weeks 3 and 4 but it started back up.  I actually just broke a 5 week stall today.  Nothing for 5 weeks then bam!  I lost 4lbs.  I know how frustrating it can be.  Try not to get too down on yourself or blame yourself.  If you keep doing what you're doing and follow the rules, it WILL come off.  I promise!

Thanks Jen, you are right about the 20 pounds per month!  I just needed a little insight from my fellow WLS peoples!

hey i thought that i was a slow loser 2. but today i realized that i`m not. the 1th month you think: i could get off this weight if i diet. but when you are more than 4 monts out you will realized how much weight you`ll lose. a friend told me that is very normal to think that we are gonna fail this 2, `cuz the diets did not worked. but this is the good one. you won´t fail.
you have to see the % not the lbs.
example. i`m 6 months out. 83 lb lost that is a 65% off. and at this time i shoul be just 50% less. that is a 15% more. so that`s what you should do 2. see the %.
don´t worry you will lose.
take care.
