New to this... VSG in 3 WEEKS!!!! OMG
Welcome to the group! We would love to answer just about any specific question you have, but I have one for you: Are you scheduled for any kind of pre-op classes or appointments before now and then? I'm just wondering because most WLS programs are really thorough about preparing their patients for what to expect so that they A. know what they are getting into; and B. make the transition after surgery as smoothly as possible...For a primer, here's a link to the online Patient Manual from the fine folks at Duke University where I had my surgery done, the RNY is a bit different from the VSG, but a lot of the info there is pertinent for both. http://secure.visualzen.com/duke/wlsc/patientmanual/default. aspx
....and oh, by the way, freaking out is COMPLETELY normal, so don't worry too much about that, but do get yourself mentally and physically for the ride of your life! Good luck!

Congrats on your date being so close.
I had my VSG in Feb and am down 80 pounds...just relax and take it day by day. Remember to sip your water in the beginning before worrying about protein, etc. You don't want to get dehydrated or you will dry heave and I can't believe that would be any fun...unless you are a glutton for punishment.
It will go by so fast!

My first advice: BREATHE! You are going to sparkle and shine with success! A couple books I found really helpful are Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies and Before & After: Living and Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery.
In those early post-op weeks, remember to count even the smallest changes as signs of success. Don't get freaked out or hung up on not being able to perfectly eat and drink everything. Each day, try to do a little more and a little more. By 6 weeks, you'll be feeling fantastic, all the swelling will be gone and your weight loss will be very noticeable.
Oh... and keep posting here! We want to share in your joyful accomplishments!

I agree with Michale that, while it's normal to freak out, you should have some pre-op support and education so you DO know what to expect. Can you join a local WLS supposrt group? Does your surgeon's office offer a pre-op program?
