So my county's summer fair is coming to a close.  Here are some photos from the hot fun.  The attractions this year included Craig Morgan, Terri Clark, Rooney and the Guess Who.  I should know in five minutes if one of my 4Hers won Rodeo Queen!!!!

That rabbitt looks like some kind of yummy Oreo type desert - but higher in protein and lower in sugar!!!

BTW - not to sound like the pretty ignorant city kid that I am - BUT, is it true that most of the animals get auctioned off and slaugntered for food after the fair? Or are most of them sold for breeding?

That breed is actually the English Spot.  I've had them since I was 10... absolutely lovely animals!

I prefer the term process or harvest, but yes, the point of the market animal is for human consumption.  There is a large percentage that are purchased for breeding, but mostly the animals are placed back into the food supply.

My first 2 years I did pigs & then rest of my fair days were spent showing sheep until the year my little "Wicked" got away from me in the show ring & I was like "ok - I am done".

It is a great lesson in responsibility and I am excited for Addison to do it when she gets old enough! So much fun!!

Oye, I don't care to show swine.  My 4Her prefered it so here I was trying to get over the situation and help her the most I could.  Sheep was my market of choice, along with dairy, horse, and rabbits.

Naming the animals makes it more fun!  They all have amazing names of course :)
