This is a tough question...everybody, and every surgeon seems to have a different answer. At Duke in NC where i originally had surgery, I was told to shoot for at least about 45-60 grams a day. That seems to be lower then what a lot of other people go by. My current surgeon out here in AZ reccomends I strive for more like 100 grams a day, which seems more in line with what  a lot of other folks are being told. Then there are others such as protein supplement vendors and exercise experts *****commend more like 1 gram per pound of body-weight - which i think is high. I guess the best advice would be to go with what your surgeon recommends, and as long as you are healthy, labs are coming back normal, and you don't seem to be burning too much lean body mass with the fat, then you should be doing O.K...

My NUTs plan calls for 40% of your daily calories to be protein during the losing phase.
You can go online to find out what a normal healthy adult needs of your age/height/weight/sex and know that you definately should not be below that amount. The amount of protein changes based on those factors - also typically those with more bypassed require more protein than those with less bypassed. The majority of people fall anywhere from the 60-120g range so its hard to say - always best to check your surgeon/NUT.

She's right about that - I have some friends who have had revisons where now they have a very long distance bypassed and they now have to really slam the protein...too much of anything else sends them running to the crapper.
