Suggestions

Okay so I am a little over a month out from my RNY and I could use some food suggestions.  I know that I am not getting enough protein in everyday but it is so hard when I really don't want to eat anything!  So does anyone have any suggestions that dont' include carbs and is not the same old cheese, yogurt, and deli meat?

When I was in that stage I ate homemade split pea and ham soup all the time - I added the recipe to my blog today!

Another favorite was Wendy's Chili - I've got a clone recipe if you want it - just ask...

Another good one was refined beans with melted cheese on top

Have you tried Greek yogurt - it's a little different - especailly when you mix things in it. like pesto or chili powder...

protein soy crisp snacks were a nice change...

pepperoni chips (baked pepperoni slices)

I ate tons of beef jerky too - jus****ch the sugar content - jack link's original is the lowest I've found...Ostrim brand is also really popular - they're made with ostrich meat and are super high in protein.....

There's always the dreaded protein powder, if you get creative you can make it tolerable:
I used to make plain instant oatmeal with a scoop of unflavored protein powder, splash of milk, pakcet of splenda, and a squirt of SF "maple" syrup

....you can add sf pudding powder and ice cubes to a protein shake to get something that tastes more like a milkshake...or you can make homemade protein ice cream...see http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.com for tons of protein ice cream and other great recipes...

hope some of these ideas get you out of your rut!

I am a fan of the protein icecream Michael was talking about!  I try to start and end my day with it.   With my ingredients that is the easiest way to get in 46 grams of protein, then for my other meals/snacks I eat protein dense foods and I don't worry because I can't eat very much of that food.

One month out was when my surgeon wanted me to start introducing soft meats so I started having tuna salad, chicken salad, crock pot chicken....PB on thin slices of apple (w/o peel)

That is all I have right now....it is early here :)

Thank you all for the great ideas!  I am going to have to find some of the greek yogurt, I've read about it before so I'll just have to start searching.

If you get a chance, I highly reccomend that you either buy or go to your local library and check out "Before & After: Eating Healthy After Weight Loss Surgery" by Susan Maria Leach. You can also check out her website- www.bariatriceating.com . There are so many great recipes in the book and on the website! I have lived off of this for the past 2 months! Good luck!
