I had a date!!! (WITH A MAN!!!)
Sorry I've been off the board lately. My main internet access was at work, and well, now I'm layed off and have resorted to the library computer lab to feed my internet need! Anywhoooo...
Guess who went on a real date last week? ME!!! The first date I've had in two years! Holy cow! And it was with the most unlikely person.... the Sales Manager from a sister-office in a nearby city. Since we worked for the same company, we'd met several times. He happened to call on my last day at my job and I told him I was being layed off. He immediately said "I'm sorry to hear that, but it's good news for me. I've had a crush on you for the last year. Now that you won't be working for the company, would it be okay if I asked you out? Officially? On a date?"
Whoohooo! And who knew???
We had dinner and a lovely evening walk. So I just had to come here and share! I haven't felt young, attractive or desirable in a long time, so this whole date thing had me nervous enough to puke. He wants to take me out again this weekend. Whoa.

Congrats on the date - see your lay-off is already paying dividends, hope it turns out to be a blessing in disguise - keep positive, keep moving forward - and it will!

He totally took me by surprise, especially when he said he'd had a crush on me for a year! I was thinking, "Uhhhhhh.... are you sure? Cause a year ago, I weighed 308 lbs and was so depressed that I didn't comb my hear, wear makeup or care about my clothes. In fact, I distinctly remember wearing sweaters to work that were covered in cat hair with holes in the armpits because I cared so little about myself. 
How in the HECK can that be attractive? I even disgusted myself!!"
Oh well, who knew? 
I admitted all that to him on our first date and he said he never noticed! Just saw my eyes and smile and that was enough for him.
