Since we're young, I believe we have more of a responsibility to present ourselves as mature adults. The reason being, surgery is a major thing, a major change in the lifestyle we live. Maturity will help up with our case.
Go into your appointment with your head held high, all of your medical information and be informed. Ask questions of your surgeon and do your research. We are our best advocates.

The more things the change, the more they're still the same.
Like Jaci said, they will want to see that you are psychologically prepared. And that you are healthy enough for the surgery. They will also want to make sure that you meet their criteria such as a BMI of 40 or higher or 35 or higher with co-morbdiities. Some surgeons require that you be at least 18 or 21 years old, depends on the surgeon. Also some surgeons and or insurance companies have additional requirements like a six month medically supervised diet...
hi, good luck with your appointment.
i had the luck to not go thru all this. because i`m from an other country and i paid for my surgery, but a psicologist had to aproved me.
be your self don´t pretent to be someone else. because this people want to help you. and if you are not ready for there surgery you can hurt your self. so is better to be honest.
and don´t worry you`ll be fine and will be aproved.
best of lucks

Like everyone said, be really mature about it. At the same time, I would also be honest. This is the time to tell the doctor and everyone else involved in the process how your weight has affected you over the years both mentally and physically. Keep in mind that you will not have the surgery overnight. Many people here on these boards wait over six months. This is largely due to the fact that you have to meet with a psychologist and nutritionist prior to having the operation. Also, a lot of people (including myself) have to go through a six-month medically supervised diet before the insurance would pay for the operation. Another thing is that I would keep an open mind about what kind of weight loss surgery you want. When I decided that I wanted to have WLS, I thought I was going to have a RNY. However, after a lot of research, I decided that a lap band would work better for me. Best of luck! Megan
Don't present yourself any way. Just BE yourself. You are obviously in there because you are ready for a change; You are ready to commit to this. You know what you are getting into.
Be sure to ask questions. I asked a million...Even really stupid ones. I didn't care if he looked at me funny.
I didn't want to look back and wish I had asked something. If you are really anxious, take a loved one with you. I took my boyfriend because I knew he would ask any questions I may have forgotten too. Plus, it was nice to have his support.
---Good luck and let us know how it all goes!
