I've never really eaten them much myself... I prefer to get most of my protein from food, however, I've had Twisted Protein bars and they are really good.  Very high in protein as well.  My surgeon doesn't want us to rely on the liquids forever.

My nut compared them to a candy bar on steroids (the steroids being vitamins and protein).  She wants us to stick to the shakes initially, but when we are closer to goal it is okay to incorporate them in. Some of the people at my support group meeting recommend Pure Protein bars.   I typically stick to shakes, but we will be traveling this weekend and I need something to stick in my purse just incase.  I want to make the best decisions I can!!! Let us know what you decide, and ihow they taste Leslie

my nutritionist and surgeon don't reccomend them...and neither do I. They pack waaaaaay too many carbs and sugar compared to the amount of protein you get from them. I have compared tons of different bars and usually they have just as many carbs as protein so they are useless. You are only a couple of months out and should be eating twice as much proteins as carbs. Sif your goal is 80grams of protein per day you shouldnt eat more than 40 carbs (per my nutritionists guidelines) One protein bar usually has 16-2 grams of carbs and I am yet to see 30-50 grams of proteins in my extensive search...although that would be awesome if i did. It seems most have about 20 carbs and thats like half of your daily allowance. Plus they are small and not so filling. So basically I would try to avoid them unless really necessary. Just  a glass of a shake would give you the same amount of proteins. They will probably be fine once you are maintaining or trying to build muscle but not right now. Hope this helps!

well the one that i have consumed, is lowfat, under 5g low carb under 5g and surger under 5g and calories which is about 150. which is okay for me, cause i hardley eat much. if i eat its like watermelon and maybe a protein shake or bar. and thats my whole day.  its been 2 months & ive lost 60 lbs. i think im doing good. . its hard to find things to eat w/o getting bored. thats why i rarely eat.

hi nikki.

i don´t know about the bars. but i was taking a protein shake. but i stoped. `cuz my nutricionist recoment that would be better to take the proteins from food.
i had a stall for a month and i stoped to have the shake and i lost 10 lb en 2 weesk. i dr. say that that was becase of the fat and carbs that the shake have so if you can eat better is better to eat. but ask your dr.
i let you know how i`m doing without the shake for 2 mor weeks.

good luck with that.
