yup, i had the surgery before they changed their name to the barix clinic.  i had found out they closed the illinois office in january of this year by chance.  a friend whose husband also had their surgery there mentioned it casually and i was like what?!  i was a bit miffed that they didn't send out any notifications to their patients.  no letter, no advice/recommendations on finding a new surgeon for continued post-op care.

now, i will admit that i was terrible about going there to get my visits done, but i always went to my pcp for regular check ups and things.  who knows..maybe they wrote me off as a lost cause and thats why i didn't get notification.

i've tried going to a few different support group meetings to try and find a new surgeon as well as new support group but i have yet to find one that won't look down on me or exclude me because 1.  i didn't have my surgery with THEIR surgeon. & 2.  *gasp* i had weight regain!!  LOL  i've had some complications from my original surgery and really need to have a surgeon at least in my arsenal should it happen again!  any luck for you?

I found out by chance too.  I went down in the December before they closed (December 2006 - they closed in February 2007) for my 1 year check up and I asked Dr. Boe when I should come in again and that is when he told me.  So I wonder if he would have told me if I hadn't asked.  It was a nightmare getting in somewhere else.  I had a serious complication that started last May and it too****il July to get in anywhere else.  I was turned down by two bariatric programs (one in Platteville which was also in the process of closing, and another in Madison because they didn't want to risk it) and the only reason I got in where I did was because my PCP is an angel and advocated for me.  It is a good thing she did - I ended up having 4 more surgeries to get everything "fixed".   I miss the folks down at Barix, but they really didn't bow out very gracefully.
