Hi everyone...I'm about 4 months out, and after eating the same thing almost all the time, I need to do some grocery shopping today.

Any ideas for some foods I should pick up that would be good?  I have the typical cheese, yogurt, SF Jello, some veggies...

I've had my fair share of chicken...used to be my favorite food, but eaten it so much since surgery, I'm over it!

I appreciate any ideas ya'll have.  Have a grand day everyone!

At that stage I was still eating softer foods mainly....Some of my favorites were homemade extra thick split pea soup with lean ham for extra protein....instant oatmeal with unflavored protein powder (splash of LF milk, packet of splenda, and squirt of SF maple syrup for flavor) .....FF refried beans, with LF cheese and LF sour cream, maybe some salsa and taco sauce for my mexican fix - sometimes with some form of meat added....lean ham or turkey slices rolled up with a strip of string cheese in the middle and other stuff like a strip of roasted red pepper or cucumber  slices - whatever you like - I like to dip them in honey-mustard (watch for sugar content though) .....scrambled eggs and veggie sausage links....Wendy's chili....baked sweet potato fries (cut up a sweet potato, spray with cooking spray, bake at hight temp until they start turning brown, then season, voila! French Fries!)

At 4 months out I was to eat normally... ill just throw a few things out, if they work they work, they dont they dont sloppy joes - either with ground turkey, chicken or lean beef - if you use the lean ground turkey you will need to season it more heavily because it lacks flavor - personally I prefer using the 96/4 beef.. I serve on a whole wheat bun tacos - use some sort of ground meat... I mix with old el paso SPICEY taco seasoning (it rocks) and a can of dark red kidney beans (drained/rinsed), mix in some canned salsa... I use this for taco salad or make burritos with low carb whole wheat wraps, tomatillo sauce, pico de gallo, RF cheese, RF sour cream - yum! Sometimes I make nachos with baked chips (tostitos or bakes blue corn chips) yummo. You can also do the same using chicken and use the crock pot - just the chicken, old el paso and salsa. Black beans are a good susbtitute as well skillet lasgana - I brown meat with onion, garlic and italian seasoning... boil pasta (whatever you like), drain meat add sketti sauce and FF ricotta cheese (all into the skillet)... add pasta.. let simmer and top with RF mozz cheese - you can even bake in the oven a few minutes if you like the cheese cripsy. I like to add carrots, zuc and squash to the meat while its cooking... I usually shred them so they are 'hidden'  meat loaf - use whatever ground meat you like... I searched a plan meat loaf recipe and modified with whole wheat bread crumbs, egg whites and added carrots, zuc, squash to it for some veggie power chicken - I know you are tired of it but find new ways to cook - I make taco chicken, bbq shredded chicken or buffalo chicken all in the crock pot - basically just throw in chicken breasts and whatever sauce cook on high for 2-3 hours then shred... use however you like. For other smaller things - tuna fish on melba toast, greek yogurt, steel cut oatmeal, veggie products (veggie corn dogs etc) kashi waffles (blueberry is the best), soy crisps...  I guess that is enough for now lol!

I love the ricotta cheese idea...I make exactly the same thing (sneaking in vegetables) but I never thought of adding ricotta - that would be great for boosting the protien without adding too many calories - my goal when I make this dish is to limit myself to one actual serving of pasta (as defined by the box) and eat as much of the meat, veggies, sauce, cheese as I can handle.... I forgot about meatloaf - that's good too - sometimes I use turkey for that and lipton onion soup/dip envelopes as seasoning for the meat - and chicken - nothing beats rotissiri from the grocery store for me when it comes to ease and taste - just don't eat the skin - I get mine at Wal-Mart at 9 pm, when there half price, I eat the white meat, then pick apart the rest and make chicken salad - I wind up withe like 5 or 6 "bariatric' meals for like 3 bucks...

The ricotta cheese really makes it good... and seem 'bad' for you... I 'borrowed' the recipe from Rachel Ray - of course her version is very unhealthy so I just changed a few things around... she is the one who put the carrots in so Ive been doing it since.  I really do not like meatloaf... I was forced to eat it when I was little - my BF was complaining that I keep cooking the same stuff so I thought I would give it a whirl - I pulled a few recipies from food.com and modified them... it came out suprizingly good.. Id actucally eat it again.  I love the rotissery chicken... eggface (theworldaccordingtoeggface.com) had a good chicken salad recipe I am going to try next week. Where I work p/t does the chickens in a lot of flavors so I get good variety... we also have rotissery wings, rotissery turkey breast and stuff.

Amen to not staying in the kitchen Brock... Although, cooking doesn't bother me...I just don't like to clean it up afterwards. Thanks for all the ideas guys...I did actually get some of the suggestions on here...it's amazing what grocery shopping does for helping you stay on track a bit better!
