What do you do for nausea?

Last Friday 6/6, they did a scope and I had a stricture, then they stretched it out.  I have been nauseas and vomiting for the past 12 days now.   Anyone have any words of wisdom.  The phenergan makes me sleep more than anything.   It keeps me from vomiting, but not from being nauseas. So I try not to be a Debbie Downer, I think that is why I haven't posted in so long.   It is hard to be positive when you are physically ill.  I am calling the doctor again in a few minutes, I just need a little hope that some day this will end.  Thanks for any input!  Leslie

I use ginger for nausea... I found these little ginger candies that were sugar free and suck on those, helps a lot.

Are you able to keep down anything?  If you're still unable to keep stuff down you might need to be dialated again.   Try warm liquids, like decaf teas, maybe even some warm milk.  I hope you get better soon!

I am still not able to keep anything down, I am waiting on a call now from the doctor who did the last dialation. Did you have any stricture issues?

Nope, no stricture issues myself but I've heard about it and strictures do not sound fun.  Keep on the doc, we don't want you to get dehydrated.  Please let us know when you hear back from the doc.

Leslie:   I know your situation very well.  My nausea started 3-4 weeks following surgery, and lasted for almost two months.  After a couple of scopes , a swallow test, and a dilation, my team of doctors still couldn't pinpoint the cause of my nausea (Phenergan was a joke).  Eventually, I went in for a second surgery that amounted to them reattaching the stoma, which still didn't provide me with much relief.  Two weeks later, I woke up one morning and felt completely normal.  I was told that some patients of RNY have prolonged episodes of nausea and dizziness (up to 6 months).  It is a condition that "feeds" itself; you feel like crap and can't keep anything down. . .which leads to dehydration and malnourishment. . .which makes you feel even worse and deterred by thought of consuming ANYTHING.    Sweetie, I'm hoping you can find some encouragement in this.  Stay on top of your doctors.  Call them daily with reports of just how miserable you are feeling; they need to take it seriously.    Take care and please let us know how you are faring. ~Erin

I would call your DR. I had that EXACT same thing. I kept throwing up after the endoscopy. I ended up being so malnurished I had to spend a week in the hospital. Just to be on the safe side...please call your DR.
