Okay, so is it true when you're young AND working out, you'll have a LOT less skin? I've been obese for a decade, so I'm not quite convinced most of it is going to go back into place. LOL Thanks!

Once skin has lost elasticity (usually seen by stretch marks) it's not bouncing back. I was 26 when I had my surgery, wasn't super obese (39 BMI) and just needed plastics to fix my stomach and arms.

I was wondering the samething. Im 22 and I have ALWAYS been big. I think it wouldnt have been so bad before I got pregnant because my skin wasnt that bad and I really didnt have too much stretch marks, but after I had my son... forget it! My stomach is so much different now. Im also worried about my thighs and loose skin... yuck. Oh well we will find out. Hopefully my insurance will pay for some plastics..

well i'm 27, and the first time i lost weight i was 24. i lost about 50lbs, really fast (for my wedding) and i noticed that even within the few months i did it, it did tighten up in a couple places, and it diiiiid hang in a few more places.  it's kind of worse now at almost 5'6" and 240lbs (a little less prolly right now) and i realize i'm a little older...but i know i'm going to need it on my tummy and probably my arms.  i've just worried and fretted and looked at tons of photos that i think looked like i do NOW compared to after plastic surgery, or how i look now compared to losing weight...and have decided to just plan for the worst, and hope for the best *lol* it's acceptance...and keep your expectations low and then maybe it'll turn out better than you think *lol*  but you're young, and with exercise it will tighten for sure in a lot of places!  trust me, being thin will be SO worth any tiny spots that seem a little wiggly. you'll be just fine!!

I hate to bring bad news (although results are different for everyone) I had barely turned 22 when I had my WLS, I'm 24 now and Most of everything is going south. It is not nearly as bad as older adults who have lost large amounts of weight but, sadly the skin will be there. I was so depressed once I found out my health would be great but I still wouldn't be able to wear a swim suit with pride, but even though it is worth it.  I went from a 26 to a size 8/6 but my arms hang badly and my tummy hangs pretty bad too, my bottom sags and my thighs have a little loose skin (enough to not wear shorts) most destressing for me i went from a 42DDD to a 36D and the girls are deflated and hang. The beauty is i can take my niece to the park and walk my dog (Plus for $36 thousand, I can look like a barbie, not that i want too but thats what the doctors said, I think they just wanted my money) I wear my skin, all the many inches of it, with pride, I don't like it and at times I wish I could just cut it off literally, but it shows all my progress and the long path I have taken.  The skin can be hard to deal with but there is always plastic surgery and being active and drinking milk does help somewhat but it will not shrink your skin down to the new size you'll be.  I wish you the best of luck and if you are really worried look at online photos and remember your health is so worth it. No its not true... there are so many factors that go into how much excess skin you will have its hard to say... I have pictures of my excess skin on my profile - while it doesnt look completely horrible, I have seen better... I am looking at 30-40,000$ worth of plastic surgery to 'fix' everything.  I was told since I was young and a light weight I would be ok... I wish I had started saving for plastic surgery the minute I decided to have surgery.... I could have had almost 3 years worth of $ saved up by now instead of waiting and seeing that nothing really snapped back all the way!

From a guys perspective.  I was 28 years old and 320 pounds at surgery.  I am now 30 years old and 208 pounds.  I yo-yo'd a lot in my life, but I had been big nearly 10 years pre-op. Most of my looks great.  But there are parts of me it's like YIKES! I figure I can live with it.

My doc said that my age would help with the loose skin but working out will not.  He also said how long you have been obese plays a part in it...I had been my whole life...so that skin isn't bouncing back so well!!!  I have loose skin under my arms, boobs, and my tummy.
