I ended up going to the ER last night around 10:30 because the nagging pain in my lower right abdomin area had gotten much much worse!  I was at the ER till almost 8am this morning, I had a CAT scan and some other tests done.  Turns out I have a bad blockage :(  This is amazingly painful, I can not believe how painful this is, has anyone else post surgery had a blockage?  If yes, how long did it take to go away, and how badly did it hurt?  I am on bed rest now till it passes some more YUCK. I am so glad that I have you guys to ask questions to :)  Thanks everyone!!

Oh sweetie!  That's awful!  My uncle had a bowel blockage that needed surgical intervention!  Ewwwwwww. Is the doc giving you any medication or anything?  Take your fiber!!!!!

I have had problems with this for a while after my surgery...bad problems!! I have found the best way to deal with the problem is fiber one bars (one a day) and fibersure (3 teaspoons in 8 oz water) nightly before bed...This has been my lifesaver!! I believe i passed (sorry tmi) a blockage before after EXTREME pain...so I had some trial and error and have found this to be the best way for me...It insures I get enough fiber and things pass nearly every day...Get better soon!!

Ouch.  That is one of the dangers of RNY.  I've had "going' problems forever, and they just got worse after my bypass.  I saw that you take benefiber - something you should know about benefiber - if you take it but do not get enough liquid throughout the day the benefiber just dries up and that makes it harder to pass.  So, that could be part of your problem.   After this is over, look into a stool softner and maybe Miralax (I love the stuff...) and if you're going to keep doing the benefiber make sure to drink enough.  Being hydrated will go a long way in helping you stay regular. That liquid laxative should get things moving, but if it doesn't work - don't wait around.  I would hate for you to have a rupture or something.  They could probably send you home with an enima (as much fun as I'm sure that sounds...) and other things to help you out. I hope everything comes out okay! (pardon the pun...)
