Hey everyone, This is the first time I have posted on the WLS in your 20's forum.  My surgery is tomorow and I was just wondering if you all could give me any tips on what to pack or what to expect when i wake up.  I was also wondering if those who are in college and live in dorm have any problems with food. Well I will be on the losser bench in about 24 hours..

I dont really have any last minute tips for the surgery itself - just an overall tip... this surgery is only a tool... its only 10% of your success - the other 90% is all you. Put the work in necessary to not only lose the weight but keep it off for life!

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

Thigh Lift 10/2020

Welcome to the forum - and I wish you the best with your surgery tomorrow! As for the dorm question - I had my surgery in November and was back to dorm living by the end of January without problems.  By the time school starts again you'll be eating pretty "normal" food.  The biggest struggle for me was avoiding the crap my classmates and I used to indulge in (ya know - easy mac, ramen and midnight pizza runs...).  It is hard, but you can definately do it.  Just make sure to have the types of foods that you can and should be eating around so you don't resort to junk. Just relax and take care of yourself tonight.  I pray that everything goes well with surgery and ever after

I'd add - make sure you have some protein drinks pre-purchased, and in all different flavors. I like the ready-to-drink ones  because they are less foamy and foaminess will not be your freind early on. The other recommendation is bring earplugs or headphones or something, because you're going to want to rest as much as you can between constant visits from nurses, doctors, and family. Most hospitals are so noisy it's hard to get good rest...

Good luck with your surgery. i hope all goes well for you. Be sure to walk and be sure u walk a lot too once u get home.  and have slippers or crocs for walking. The walking is to get the digestive juices going and help with air bubbles and gets u to pass gas  It also helps prevent blood clots and fluids in the lungs after surgery like pneumonia  gas x strips and mylacon drops (they r for babies) will help with those gas pains and passing gas which might be a bit painful.  Lots of walking is good. Rest, relax, take it easy, don't over do it  and try hot tea once you get home those warm liquids can be soothing for you.
