I'm new too!

So how's everyone doing? I'm really excited...I finally decided to have lapband surgery, but just started on the long road of insurance approval. Can anyone tell me how long it tok them from the first PCP referral (if that's what you had to do) to actual surgery date? Thanks and Take Care Everyone, Slonne, aka Slo

I started the process in Nov. 2007 and got approved in April 2008. My LapBand surgery is in 5 days. Eek!! I am excited and a little nervous!

So almost 6 mos. Not too bad. I guess good things come to those who wait, right? Good luck w/your surgery:)Slo

yaya!!!!! welcome, i started my first visit with my consult Sept. 07 and I got my surgery Jan 08.  But i would have gotten it at the end of nov, but I was in school so i put it off for a few months so I could do it during my winter break.  Also at the place I went I had to see 5 different doctors 2X each and do a support group once a week for 5 weeks.  Some places make people do stuff like that some dont.  so it all depends on what your doctors want.  G'luck with everything and keep us posted!

Awesome. I'm a student also...UCI..University of California, Irvine. I'm going to try doing it during one of my breaks also. Was the reovery fast? I heard it was about a week or so. Thanks, Slo

Yea, for me i was on break so school/ carrying books wasnt an issue, but I also work at a bakery.  So i took a full week off of work, i just pretty much stayed in bed and walked a little.  After that week I went back to work but didn't lift anything above like 5lbs.  So yea the recovery was about a week. the pain for me was like a 5 but near day 3 it was down to a 3. If you can take a full week off from school/work
